David and Vicki Leatherwood: A New Adventure

Go and tell what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. ~ Luke 7:22

Some major changes are headed our way as the Lord has called us out of our work with Living Water International, where David has been working for over eight and a half years, and back to the mission field, as we have joined Kairos International.

Until next summer, we will be building our team in the US, raising prayer and financial support. Once in Rwanda, our vision for ministry with Kairos is, after a year of language learning, to mobilize, equip, and send a small team of Rwandan missionaries into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The people we wish to train know the language and the culture of their neighbors to the west and will be able to communicate God’s Word to the people in the eastern DRC in ways that they would not receive from western missionaries. Similarly, after Jesus healed the Gadarene demoniac, he sent him to his own people to tell what God had done for him and the man went and proclaimed throughout the Decapolis the amazing things Jesus had done for him. Jesus mobilized a missionary to the Decapolis by sending him to his own people and we plan to do the same with believers in Rwanda, serving the DRC. We are looking forward to sharing more of our mission strategy and vision in coming months. We would love for all of you to join our support team so we will soon be getting in touch with you to personally extend the invitation. We are excited for the adventure ahead! ~ David and Vicki Leatherwood

A note about Hurricane Harvey... We have been excited to share this news with you but we also want to address the issue of Hurricane Harvey. We are grateful that our home and family were spared the worst of Harvey. We know that many of you in the Houston area are still dealing with Harvey-related challenges. We are sensitive to the fact that many of you must give priority to your family and close friends that have been impacted by the storm at this time and we encourage you to help those in your community. As we build our support team, we want to be sensitive to the timing of our invitation, especially for those of you who are in the trenches of Harvey relief. That being said, we still feel called to move forward with inviting you to join our team over the next few months.

We'd be honored to have you partner with us financially. If you’d like to join our support team, please visit our website for easy online giving.
